Esatto terms of use
Last updated: October 29, 2026
These terms cover Esatto, the Italian vocabulary app for iPhone, made by Dave Paola and published by Enginery. In these terms, "I" is Dave. On the App Store, the seller's name is Zen Space Labs, Inc., the company that holds the Apple developer account. Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies to Esatto. These terms add to it. How Esatto handles your data is in its privacy policy.
What is free
- The first 1,000 words, with all their sentences and audio.
- Reviews of every word you have already learned, always, with or without a subscription.
A subscription adds words 1,001 to 10,000.
Subscriptions
- Plans: monthly ($2.99 in the United States) or yearly ($29.99 in the United States). In other countries, the App Store shows the price in your currency before you buy.
- Payment: Apple charges your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase.
- Renewal: the subscription renews automatically at the same price for the same period, unless you turn off automatic renewal at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Apple charges the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
- Cancel or change plans: in the iPhone's Settings, under your name, then Subscriptions, or from Esatto's Settings. If you cancel, you keep the words until the end of the period you paid for.
- Refunds: Apple handles refunds, at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- Other phones: a subscription unlocks words on any iPhone that uses the Apple ID that bought it. Use "Restore Purchases" on a new phone.
Your account
Esatto saves your answers to its server under your email address, so that your words are never lost. The address is the only key: there is no password and no code. So type your own address correctly, and do not use someone else's. Anyone who types your address into Esatto joins your account, which is why your account holds only your Italian practice. You can delete your account at any time in Esatto's Settings.
The word collection
The sentences, their translations and the word data come from open sources: Tatoeba (CC BY 2.0 FR), FrequencyWords, built from OpenSubtitles (CC BY-SA 4.0), and Wiktionary through wiktextract (CC BY-SA 3.0). Esatto's Settings list them under Sources. Those licences apply to that material, and nothing in these terms limits what they allow.
Volunteers wrote many of the sentences and translations, and some may be wrong. When one is, use the report button on the card, and I will fix it in the next update of the collection.
The app
The app's code, design and name are mine. You may use the app for your own learning, as Apple's agreement allows.
Please do not:
- try to get into the Esatto server or other people's accounts, or slow the server down;
- use automated tools to pull data from the server;
- type an email address that is not yours.
I may close an account that does these things.
No guarantees
I work to make every sentence right and to keep the server running, but Esatto comes as it is. I do not promise any learning result, and I do not promise that the app or the server will always be available or free of errors. To the extent the law allows, my total liability to you for anything to do with Esatto is limited to what you paid for it in the 12 months before the claim. Some places do not allow these limits, and there they apply only as far as the law allows.
If Esatto stops
If I ever close Esatto, I will say so in the app in advance, and you can export your known words from Settings before it closes.
Changes to these terms
If I change these terms, I will update the date above and post the new version at this address, and note material changes in the release notes of the next version of the app.
